Counseling Staff Positions

Counselor

Full Summer (2 Weeks of Training + Sessions 1-6)

Half Summer (2 Weeks of Training + Sessions 1-3)

Counselors are the core to all of our summer programs. They spend the summer living in our cabins and lodges with 8-10 campers and are responsible for their physical, emotional and spiritual well being during their time at camp. That means leading bible studies, taking their cabin on adventures, eating s’mores, making friendship bracelets, playing gaga-ball, singing silly songs and leaning into the questions and challenges that kids bring to camp. Kids come to camp from all different backgrounds and with diverse life experiences, and our counselors are on the front lines of communicating the Gospel Truth of God’s love for them through their words and their care for the campers.

There are four summer programs (Classic Camp, Next Level, Little Ligs and Family Camp) that counselors and co-counselors can be placed in during the summer with ages ranging from 6 year olds, all the way up to 17 year olds. During the application and training process, we’ll work with every counselor to place them with the age group that best fits their abilities, and do our best to equip them for all the challenges and adventures they’ll face as a counselor at Ligonier Camp. Throughout the summer, all of our staff will participate in staff bible studies, weekly worship gatherings, and one on one discipleship with our summer leadership team.

Co-Counselor

Full Summer (2 Weeks of Training + Sessions 1-6)

Co-Counselors serve in a very similar role to a traditional counselor, only they have a secondary role which they spend some time doing during the daily activity blocks. Their secondary role usually means they act in more of a support role in the cabin. These roles include: Lifeguard, Kitchen Team, Digital Media Team, Target Sports Coordinator, HUB Coordinator, and Craft Hall Coordinator.

All counselors must be a minimum age of 18 years of age with a year of college completed at the time of employment and a committed Christian involved in Christian community and ongoing personal spiritual growth.

Ropes Counselor

Full Summer (2.5 Weeks of Training + Sessions 1-6)

The Ropes Staff at LCCC is responsible for leading campers of all ages in our outdoor experiential program. These staff members spend each day facilitating groups in various activities including team building/initiatives, climbing, high ropes, mountain boarding, mountain biking, and white water rafting. While prior experience in leading these activities is not required, applicants should be comfortable with learning new technical and safety skills, working at heights, explaining games to large groups, and helping campers make connections to the Gospel through their experiences. The Ropes Staff position is physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness; you don’t need to be a cross-fit super star, but know that it is far from being a sedentary job.

In addition to facilitating adventure activities, Ropes Staff is a huge part of the rest of the program. They get to invest in a cabin of kids by participating in nightly devotions, praying with counselors, and helping with evening programming.

Ropes Staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age or one year of college completed at time of employment, a committed Christian involved in ongoing personal spiritual growth, and desire to see the summer as a ministry of outreach and nurture of children.

Lake Counselor

Full Summer (2 Weeks of Training + Sessions 1-6)

Can you believe that you could be paid to ride a jet ski for the summer? Well, it’s true. Lake Staff at LCCC are the people who maintain and run our program at our lakefront property. Lake Staff will be spending their days driving our jet skis for tubing campers, lifeguarding at the beach, and supervising the dock area. Other jobs include leading campers in laser tag, playing games, and helping with property maintenance.

Qualified applicants should be strong swimmers. Prior lifeguarding and/or boating experience is preferred by not required. Certification classes for becoming a lifeguard as well as earning a boater license are offered during training. Please note that becoming a lifeguard is a physically demanding task that requires the individual to be a very strong swimmer. You should be swimming regularly in preparation if you are interested in becoming a lifeguard.

Though they’re at the lake during the day, Lake Staff still get to build relationships with campers through their involvement with the camp programming in the evenings. They attend nightly cabin devotions, spend mealtimes with campers, and participate in the rest of the camp activities.

Lake Staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age or one year of college completed at time of employment, a committed Christian involved in ongoing personal spiritual growth, and desire to see the summer as a ministry of outreach and nurture of children

Family camp staff

Half Summer (1 Week Training + Sessions 4b - 7)

This unique group of summer staff ensures that families are able to experience and enjoy all that Ligonier Camp has to offer. Our Family Camp Staff care for families, facilitate daily activities, and oversee kid-specific programming and childcare that allows parents to attend seminars, teaching, and socials designed just for them. Otherwise family camp staff create, oversee, and manage experiences and opportunities for families to play, learn, and grow together. These staff members may find themselves planning “theme nights,” hunting crayfish in a stream, sharing testimonies at a campfire, serving meals, working through devotions with parents and their kids, or officiating a parents vs. kids contest in anything from soccer to trivia. These positions involve a diverse array of responsibilities and require individuals who are able to “think on their feet,” take initiative, and make sound decisions. Most importantly, family camp is a chance for our staff to engage their creativity for the purpose of encouraging and equipping families to move forward together on their journey as disciples of Jesus.

Family Camp Staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age or one year of college completed at time of employment, a committed Christian involved in ongoing personal spiritual growth, and desire to see the summer as a ministry of outreach to families and children.
